5 Healthy Feeding Habits for Babies

Healthy feeding can give the baby a strong body, so many new parents begin to pay attention to all kinds of knowledge about infant feeding after the baby is born. From breast-feeding to supplementary food and eating independently, how to give children a reasonable and healthy diet? What is a healthy feeding method suitable for babies? The healthy growth of the baby is the concern of parents. Let’s learn about health knowledge together.

Cultivation of Correct Feeding Style

Feeding only when hungry: The baby can only be fed after he has a clear message of hunger. If parents think it’s time to feed the baby, but the baby has no signs of hunger, for one thing, the baby has no desire to continue eating, and will definitely refuse in the form of non-sucking, pushing out food and feeding utensils with tongue, turning around, shielding off with hands, voice protest and so on; for another, even if the baby did not refuse at that time. But as time goes on, the baby will surely suffer from indigestion symptoms such as accumulated food, and even affect the growth and development of the baby, which is a physical protest.

Milk guarantee: let the baby fully absorb nutrition. Newborn babies can be breastfed more than ten times a day. With the increase of age and stomach capacity, the amount of milk fed increases, the time of absorption and digestion of food by the baby’s gastrointestinal tract increases, and the number of feeding times per day decreases gradually. For babies of 4-6 months, the total amount of milk feeding per day should be maintained at 800-900 ml before supplementary feeding is added. Babies of 1 year old should be fed about 2-3 times a day, and the total amount should be maintained at 500-600 ml. And babies over 2 years old should still insist on eating 200 ml of milk every morning and evening.

Dinner food: Babies should eat regularly every day, at least to ensure two meals of staple food a day, or even three meals. Dinner food should include rice, flour, vegetables, fish and so on. Don’t feed your baby other snacks when eating dinner food, which will let the baby can’t finish the dinner, thus affecting the appetite, making the body unable to absorb rich nutrients, thereby affecting the body’s development.

Parents should choose some foods that are suitable for the baby’s taste and easy to digest for the baby, either made by themselves or choose ready-to-market products. Keep food fresh. Food should be good in color, aroma and taste. Of course, parents themselves should eat with relish, so that their babies would like to eat it right away. The food parents eat can choose the same ingredients as babies, but the cooking method is different, otherwise the baby will want to eat their parents’ food if they see their parents eat so delicious.

Refuse fast food: Fast food is very convenient, and the taste is more and more adapted to people’s needs. But the high oil, fat, salt and low vitamins of fast food are not good for health.

Babies should eat less salt, so from this point alone, fast food is not suitable for babies to eat. If parents don’t have time to make delicious food for their babies, choose the food specially for babies. They are different from fast food. They have no harmful ingredients for babies, and they don’t lack nutritional elements.

Eat by themselves: What we are talking about here is to let the baby eat by himself, which not only exercises the development of the baby’s gums, but also cultivates the independence of the baby, and will not pass on the diseases of parents to the baby. Don’t crush the food for babies because they can’t chew hard meat or long vegetable leaves.  Instead, create some conditions for him to eat the food. For example, supplementary food should be from thin to thick, from soft to hard, variety from single to diverse, so that the babies can gradually exercise the ability to chew and enjoy the pleasure of eating food by themselves.

Nutrition intake is closely related to the correct feeding mode. Having the correct feeding concept and persisting are the conditions for the healthy growth of babies. Parents please look at the above feeding methods and choose what is good for your baby. Protecting the baby’s health starts with scientific feeding and comprehensive nutrition intake, which will lay a solid foundation for baby’s resistance!
