Every parent hopes that the baby will grow up healthily, but there are many young couples who have little knowledge of healthy parenting. Let’s talk about how to ensure that newborn babies have adequate calcium nutrition.
Step 1: calcium supplement starts from parents.
In order to give the newborn a good body, we should pay attention to early calcium supplementation in the fetal period. The period from conception to delivery is about 10 months. Human life begins with fertilized eggs. Calcium is involved in the process of sperm egg binding. Calcium concussion produced by calcium as the second messenger plays an active role in upsetting, which makes the egg obtain the ability of fertilization. Around the sperm, like other cells, there are 10000 times of high concentration of calcium. Because of this high concentration difference, the process of cell pregnancy is also the process of sperm loaded with one-ten-thousandth of calcium entering the egg. Without a precise ratio, the egg cannot accept sperm. If either side of the couple is short of calcium, the sperm and egg will become dull and difficult to conceive. Even if they are pregnant, they can’t have healthy and excellent babies
Step 2: calcium supplement for pregnant women
The fetus develops from a small embryo with a height of several millimeters to a newborn with a height of 50 cm and a weight of more than 3 kg. It must absorb a lot of nutrients, especially calcium nutrition, from the mother. In order to ensure the growth of fetal height and weight, it is necessary to ensure the normal ossification of spine, limbs and skull. In this development process, due to the movement of calcium from the maternal intestine to the fetal bone, the calcium deposited on the fetal bone in the last three months of pregnancy is about 30 grams, accounting for 80% of the total bone calcium. The amount of calcium delivered by the mother to the fetus is 150 mg / day in the second trimester and 450 mg / day in the third trimester. Even if the mother is short of calcium nutrition, the placenta can still actively transport calcium to the fetus to ensure the needs of fetal growth and development.
Step 3: calcium supplement for newborns
The birth weight of the newborn is more than 3kg, the content of bone calcium is about 25g to 30g, and the length is about 50cm. Weight increases at a rate of 25 to 30 grams per day, and height increases to about 55 centimeters in 28 days. In order to adapt to such a rapid growth rate, reasonable nutrition, especially the supplement of calcium nutrition, has become an urgent matter. Breast milk is the best nutrition. Although the content of calcium in human milk is less than that in cow milk, the proportion of calcium and phosphorus in human milk is the most suitable (2:1), and calcium is easily absorbed. In the case of insufficient breast milk, the newborn should take milk and milk substitutes when the mother still has little or no milk despite taking milk promoting drugs and relevant measures. The content of phosphorus in milk is 6 times that of human milk, and the content of calcium is 4 times that of human milk. The content of potassium and sodium in milk is also higher than that of human milk. Most of calcium in milk combines with citric acid or forms calcium phosphate colloid, which is not easy to be absorbed. So we still need to pay attention to calcium supplement in artificial feeding.
Early hypocalcemia occurs within 8-10 days after birth. The main causes are hypoparathyroidism, immature renal function, inadequate food intake, inappropriate proportion of calcium and phosphorus, and vitamin D deficiency. Therefore, for the sake of children’s health, newborns, especially premature infants, should pay attention to timely calcium supplementation to resist calcemia and hypocalcic convulsion.
