5 Actions to Care Baby’s Eyes Carefully

5 Actions to Care Baby’s Eyes Carefully

The age of 1-6 is the key period for the development of a baby’s eyes, but in every corner of life, there are hidden substances that affect the health of the eyes that the mothers can’t see. Only by laying a good foundation for a baby’s eye health and balancing nutrition can the baby have a bright future.

5 Action for Baby Eye Care

Action 1: 0-6 Years Old · Health Basis

From birth to early childhood, the eyes and vision of a baby develop in a gradual way. Usually, the baby’s vision can reach the adult level at the age of 6. Many eye diseases before the age of 6 can be corrected and restored to their original state. Therefore, more attention should be paid to the development of the baby’s eyes in the stage of 0-6 years old.

Action 2: Good Eyesight · Good Learning

The human brain can grow to 80% in the first year of life. Especially in the first six months, the eyes and vision develop rapidly. Baby’s learning is dependent on the senses, so when the baby relies on vision to establish the concept of object and space, it can further develop abstract concepts. And poor visual development, in addition to affecting the learning effect, will also make the baby feel insecure.

Action 3: Avoiding Blue Light · Reducing Lesions

Blue light is one of the invisible killers of baby’s eyes because it is a spectrum that the naked eye cannot distinguish. Exposure to excessive blue light can cause eye damage, especially macular lesions. Many people know that ultraviolet radiation can damage the eyes, but only cornea and lens can be damaged by ultraviolet radiation, because ultraviolet radiation can’t penetrate both of them for in-depth damage, but blue light can penetrate the lens, directly to the macula.

The highest proportion of blue light penetrating crystals is 0-2 years old.

0-2 years old 2-10 years old 30-90 years old
70%-80% 60%-70% 20%.

Action 4: The younger you are, the more you need to protect your eyes.

Because the crystals of newborn babies and infants are completely transparent, the proportion of blue light penetrating the crystals to the retina is relatively high, so the eyes of newborn babies and infants are most vulnerable to blue light damage. But with age, the crystals will gradually become yellow, and yellow can block and filter blue light, so compared with adults, the proportion of infants’ eyes penetrated by blue light to reach the retina is more than four times higher than adults.

Action 5: Healthcare Way · Balanced Diet

Balanced diet intake can also effectively avoid the harm of blue light to the baby’s eyes. Breast milk contains a lot of natural lutein, so breast-feeding can effectively help babies to absorb the most natural and adequate lutein nutrition to avoid blue light damage.

Many studies have confirmed that lutein can absorb and filter blue light from the macula to avoid damage to the retina. Since the human body can not synthesize lutein by itself, it must be taken from food, so it is recommended to eat more dark green vegetables.

Lutein Content in Common Vegetables and Fruits

High content spinach
Medium content green beans, lettuce, broccoli, pumpkin, corn
Low content mung bean, carrot, green pepper and celery

Food Sources of Other Nutrients
